Creating Business-Oriented Collaterals by:Lynne Saarte

Marketing is first and foremost about making a sale and going for that selling proposition

. Although your marketing collaterals such as your newsletter printing and catalog printing may be used to provide your target audience with information, your print catalogs for one are geared towards promoting your products and services.

A few considerations then when catalog printing especially is necessary in order for you to print catalogs that are centered on business and business alone:

Use a business trademark. Trademarks are very big in any business. You need to put your mark in order for your target audience and clients to recognize and remember you. That is why logos and letterheads are very popular. They provide your target audience of a trademark that can introduce your brand image. The trick is to find a trademark that is customized to the kind of business you have and what you do. The more your trademark fit your special brand image, the easier it is for your target customers to remember you every time.

Provide your target clients with consistent information about you. This means having to write and send out press releases and articles to constantly keep you in the minds of your target clients. Your ads and collaterals are basically your representatives. Your collaterals keep your target clients aware of developments within your organization such as recent achievements, announcements, new products and services, and even your most basic values and beliefs. Your copy then is your voice; your constant medium to connect with your target clients so they can remember you all the time.

Provide relevant information. Not just information, but you should make sure that you provide your target clients with relevant and up-to-date details.

Of course you do not need to talk about yourself all the time. Not only would it be a turn off but it would appear that you are only interested in one thing - yourself. Hence, you need to make your target market feel that they are important to you and that you are constantly on the lookout for ways to improve yourself so you can provide them with more benefits and useful services. The only way you can do that is if you truly understand and consider the needs of your clients and prospects. And make sure that you give them information that fit what they are looking for.

Lastly, give them interesting and exciting information to keep their attention. Your collaterals, although you provide information and facts, are still marketing tools. The only way you can be effective in promoting is when your collaterals can make your target clients want to know more of your business and finally be convinced of your worth - enough to make them buy your products and services.
