Creating Website Content
Content is king, but coming up with good content isn't always easy
. Here are some ways that may help you generate some good posts and articles for your website:
*Write Opinions. Especially if your site or blog is more information oriented, it's okay to occasionally include commentary on a recent issue or market trends.
*Latest News. You can either play reporter by covering breaking or recent news to your readers or, as mentioned, you can include some opinion on recent events and how they could affect your niche.
*Read Forums/FAQs. See what people are talking about and what other bloggers are writing about. You may have an insight or perspective that brings in readers.
*Always Be Paying Attention. Whether you're online or offline, always have an ear and eye out for potential article topics. Keep a notebook with you (or make a note in your phone) when an idea materializes.
*Try Video, Images, Audio, Charts. While you probably already include a picture or two in your posts, you may want to try something different. Make a video or audio clip or chart. And when it comes to images, consider finding an image and commenting on it, as opposed to only using an image to compliment what you already wrote.
*Write About History. Write about the history of your industry, your company, or your city. Write about an influential or inspirational historical figure (possibly related to your niche, but doesn't have to be) and perhaps give their fictional commentary on today's issues.
*Take Both Sides Of An Issue. It's okay to do a faux point-counterpoint on an issue. By addressing both sides, you'll appeal to a wider base and hopefully have a reasonable discussion.
*Write A Sequel. Take a previous post and add to it. Write the next chapter or an update.
*Do Something Random. Post a completely unrelated picture, link, or article. Don't make a habit of it, but it's okay to add some variety to what you do.
*Try Something Short. Something really short - like 100 words. It's actually more difficult than it sounds.
*Start Over. Go back to your very first post and rewrite it. Don't delete or change the old post, but if you've been blogging for several years or months you likely have a whole new point of view on what you previously wrote about and can get some more mileage out of that old idea.
*Announce Accomplishments. It's okay to take some time to talk about what you or your company have recently accomplished. Giving some personal news from time to time is acceptable.
*Think Simple. As you've been searching for ideas, you're likely trying to think of something new, witty, creative, clever, or completely different; try going the other direction. Write a post defining what SEO is or how a sewing machine works or what the Internet is. You may think you already know everything about a given topic, but there are likely plenty of interesting facts you (and your readers) know nothing about.
