Crypts are a burial place under the church with one room. People of nobility and church people who were of high positions were buried here. The entire room is filled with thousand year old people's bones, vertebrae, rotule, femori and phalanges.

More than 40,000 monks are burred in six rooms of this Capuchin crypt. Capuchin rooms are made of Crypt of the Skulls, Crypt of the Pelvises, Crypt of the Leg Bones and Thigh Bones and so on. This crypt was started in the year 1631 by Capuchin monks when they brought bones of their dead brethren who died during a flood in Tiber River. These bones were arranged to form decorative interior like columns, arches and floral designs. When the visitor's eyes are squinted, no one would be able to find out that these were made of bones.

Catacombs in Italy are one of the interesting places to be visited. They are normally made of 8" underground tunnel mazes that lead to the room of burial, which are meant for Christians and Jewish communities. One famous catacomb in Italy is Palermo Catacombs in Sicily, the best place to see life-like bodies which have been attracting people all these years.

The most attractive part of the Palermo Catacombs is how well they have preserved the body of a two year old girl Rosalia Lombardo who was buried in the year 1920. There are more than 8000 bodies that have been preserved. These bodies were drained, washed in vinegar, filled with straws and were dressed in their costumes. They were made to sit or stand or even made to look like chatting with another body. Some corpses are fixed to the roofs and at times these corps move slightly that stops the heart of any visitor. In one of the rooms of the catacomb, visitors hear people talking and whistling.
