Cromer North Nofolk time for a different B&B experience
Cromer is one of the most famous North Norfolk resorts. Cromer has some impressive local scenery and like many of the North Norfolk towns and villages Cromer owes much of it's history to the sea from its international reputation for sea food to the impressive pier.
Like many British coastal resorts Cromer blossomed in the Victorian era, many of the wealthy Norwich family's chose the town as the location of their summer homes. Cromer received a boost with a noted journalist writing about the resort in the national press, the late Victorian era saw the completion of the famous pier and the Pavilion theatre which to this day provides top name shows and entertainment for tourists and locals alike.
Much of this bustling seaside resort overlooks the beach and the pier. The Cliff tops provide impressive views from the equally impressive local hotels.
Much of the accommodation available in the resort can be found in the character properties of the town itself. Self catering, Bed & Breakfast and hotels are available in the town and surrounding areas. While camping and caravanning locations can be found not far from Cromer some within walking distance.
Much more than a serene coastal resort, it is a home for the arts and supports several local artists and many photographers who make a living from capturing the magnificent scenery through all seasons.
Cromer is particularly proud to be the birth place of Henry Blog an important part of the history of the Life Boat movement in Britain. The Life Boats provide vital rescue services for those in distress on the seas. Visitors can find a history of the towns life boat crews in the local museum.
No mention of Cromer is complete without mention of the famous seafood from the town. None has achieved the same international recognition as the delicious Cromer crabs.
The low number of boats and pots involved in the catch means the Crabs with their particularly tender meat and a high percentage of white meat, are even more a precious delicacy, efforts are under way to ensure the future stocks of Crab and Lobster from the area.
In summer the resort is a vibrant British Seaside resort a haven for families and holiday makers. In winter the resort is a great place to visit and enjoy warm afternoons in the snug of local pubs or in front of an open fire in one of the character hotels or restaurants after a bracing walk along the beach.
