Cruise Cabins Can Be Better Than The Finest Resor

Cruises, as well as their passengers, have changed a lot through the years

. Over 100 years ago, passenger traveled by ship, but not always by their own choice and the ships were nothing like the cruise ships we see today. A few years later, cruises started to become popular as vacation getaways. Unfortunately, at this time, they were quite costly and only the wealthier could afford to do this type of traveling. Unless you were wealthy, the only vacation you could afford was a one-day tour.

Much has changed with the cruises as well as the prices. Now more and more couples and families are being able to afford cruises. If you are planning your first cruise, there are some important facts you need to know. Make sure that what is quoted to you as the price is actually the price. Many times agencies, in their quest to make a sale, mislead customers as to what the final price is.

One such example is a special cruise you may see advertised in the newspaper. It may offer a 7-day cruise to the Bahamas for $99. You rush to the travel agency with $200 to pay for a ticket for you and your husband only to find out when you get there that you need to play a lot more. What they fail to tell you in the ad is that the $99 is only for the cruise, not the traveling expense to Florida (or wherever you're leaving from), not the tax and fees, not any lodging or any of the other miscellaneous fees you may incur.

They are not trying to deliberately deceive you, but rather entice you to get you to their agency and possibly purchase one of their many specials. Usually their "other" offers are much higher. They may still have specials that are perfect for your family, but it pays to shop around. Many times travel agents will resort to a lot of pressure to get you to buy one of their trips.

In person, you have the advantage of seeing everything on paper before you sign. Many offers, however, are taken care of online with a credit card. A month later, when the credit card bill comes, the individual finds out just how much more their cruise cost than what they expected. Always ask for the bottom dollar price.

Try to get the package prices that are "all inclusive" meaning that they cover all your meals, drinks and lodging. About the only thing that may not be included are extra port fees or charges you will incur when you dock. Be sure to ask your agent about all these extra fees you may expect so you can be prepared when you travel.
