Cubana De Aviacion Opens Direct Air Route Mexico-santa Clara
Mexico and Cuba established a direct connection to Mexican tourists visiting the northern keys of the Caribbean island
. The operation will run throughout the summer in TU 204 aircrafts with capacity for 170 passengers. On the first trip came about 70 Mexican visitors on the flight 131 of Cubana de Aviacion from Mexico City to the international airport of Santa Clara, 300 kilometers east of Havana.
This new route is part of the projects announced by the Cuban Tourism Ministry this summer. The agency also reported the increase in operations to and from Canada, Argentina, Colombia, Peru and Chile, in America, as well as France, Russia and Germany in Europe. With this new route of Cubana de Aviacion, Mexico introduces the island destination of Villa Clara, showing a differentiated offering in Havana and Varadero, well positioned to Mexican travelers.
To the Mexican market is of great significance the direct connection to the center of the island as being a novelty that facilitates the meeting with an area of great historical, cultural, and natural attraction. Travelers of the Aztec nation, coming from a rare market in the young tourist destination, will know the benefits of these sandy islets, said Jorge Luis Jimenez, commercial director of the Delegation of the Ministry of Tourism in the province.
He said the stay of visitors will increase the level of exploitation of the hotel facilities of the keys in the middle of the low season. These
flights to Cuba will have a weekly basis and its purpose is to promote the market for keys Las Brujas, Ensenachos and Santa Maria, located in the northern province of Villa Clara, whose capital is Santa Clara.
Such keys are the third Cuban tourist destination, with more than 6 000 rooms, mostly five-star, and with growth prospects up to 13 000 rooms. There are also located a marina and a dolphinarium, which experts have described as spectacular. The area is characterized by its crystal clear turquoise waters and fine white sand, and a hotel infrastructure of a high standard.
The new route will allow visitors to observe the tourist attractions of the city with a vast historical and cultural heritage, which contains the Sculptural Complex Commander Ernesto Che Guevara.
They may also enjoy the Colonial Villa Remedios, founded in the sixteenth century and the Protected Natural Landscape Hanabanilla. The director of the travel agency Cubatur, Ivon Lopez, said that those who choose this destination will also have excursions to historical sites and heritage value in Remedios and Santa Clara.
Cuba aspires to receive this year 2.9 million tourists. Last year registered a total of 76, 327 Mexican visitors, figure that officials from both countries try to increase in the future to 100 thousand.
