Culture And Art In San Diego

Art in San Diego is just one of the many attractions that bring people from all over the world to the city

. Music, culture, food and all kinds of festive entertainment are all regular happenings- not to mention taking advantage of the beaches and the warm weather! Located on the San Diego Bay, the city is one of the most visited travel destinations in the country, not to mention in the entire world.

Art San Diego style is something that is unique and extremely popular. The Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego recently expanded its campus, adding the Joan and Irwin Jacobs Building and the David C. Copley Building to the grounds in 2008. The expanded area includes many new exhibits and attractions, bringing in many new visitors as well. The museum holds an evening dedicated to music, poetry and art on Thursdays, which is a popular time to go to the museum and participate in many different events, including slide jams, dance, exhibitions, poetry reading and more.

Other than the art museum, there are plenty of other cultural attractions to enjoy as well. From shopping centers and historical museums, fine restaurants, beaches and entertainment venues, there is something for everyone, which is why the city is a destination that millions flock to every year for their vacations. PETCO Park was a construction project that was completed in 2004, reviving the glory of the downtown area, which is now bustling with tourists, business people and residents on shopping sprees.

You wont want to miss the Gaslamp Quarter, which gets its name from the old fashioned street gas lamps which lined the streets decades ago. The historic buildings in this area along with the beautiful landscaping takes visitors back in time still today. Although older, the Gaslamp Quarter comes alive at night with the mecca of bars, dance clubs, theaters and sidewalk cafes that are there. Fortunately for visitors who have come to enjoy art San Diego and other attractions, there are many fine accommodations throughout the area in which to stay. From major hotels to bed and breakfasts, the city has it all.

The Horton Plaza shopping center is the place to go for high end shopping, and is an architectural marvel. The multi level mall houses many boutiques, gift shops and stores of all kinds. There are also many fine cafes and restaurants here too, so when you become famished gazing upon all of the art San Diego, you can stop for a delicious bite to eat and recharge.
