Cure That Slice To Land Perfect Tee Shots In Golf

Stepping up to the tee when were playing golf is a nerve wracking experience

, even if it is just a friendly round with your mates you dont want to be the person who hits their drive and it slices way off in to the deep rough. On a competitive level this situation can be made worse as spectators or your partner for the round will be silently judging you. Many professional golfers cite the first tee shot as being the most tense part of their game, you need to start well to get into your flow quickly, mess it up and you could be in for a long day in the rough.

A slice occurs when the ball rotates from left to right (or vice versa for left hander golfers) this can be caused by a number of different reasons but in most cases it is down to the angle of your club face upon impact and follow through. This can be altered by making slight adjustments to your stance and grip.

Your stance needs to be square to the ball, if you look down the course you can get a good idea on where your ball is going to be headed and if you want to go a little to the left then you move your stance so that you can see to the left when you turn your head. Your stance may be too far or close to your ball which means your club will make contact with the ball with a less preferable area of the club face. It is often the case that golfers who slice the ball are stood too far away from the ball will slice their shots whereas golfers too close hook a lot of their shots.

With your stance taken care of there is another important are which is your grip of the club. A good golf grip is firm but loose enough so that your muscles dont hinder the movement of your hands as you make the smooth fluid swinging motion. A good way to cure any hooks or slices is to have a look at where your hands and wrists are when you make contact with the ball, take a practice swing but try and stop as you get to the bottom of your swing, if your wrists have twisted this could be what is causing your shots to ping off in a different direction. Try to make sure that you try to keep your hands locked and take a few practice shots down at the driving range.

Before you know it you will have straightened out your shot and be hitting the ball straight down the course in no time.
