Golf can be an enjoyable sport or pastime if you are playing well and making those

Topping is often caused by a club that is too high or short for the player. Try holding your club near the end of the club and keep your knees bent during the swing.
The Ball goes too high and not far enough This is the exact opposite of topping' the ball, your club will be hitting the ball with too great an angle and this is normally done by golfers rotating their wrists during their swing, this causes the club face to open and hit the ball higher in the air but not as far. This is a good shot to use when in the bunker or needing to get over obstacles but in general you may want to make sure your wrists are locked and don't rotate during your shots.
There are many other shot problems that can occur but you certainly aren't the only one and you will not have to worry about fixing these problems as with practice you'll get used to the proper way to stand, swing and hit the ball, before you know it the proper golf motions will have become second nature to you.
