Customize Your Festive Dcor With Berries

With the Christmas and New Year approaching, needless to say

, the preparation are slowing increasing pace as can be seen with families dragging their trees, shopping for gifts and dcor, regularly plowing their driveways and the slow traffic. Everybodys basic Christmas dcor involves lighting, the Christmas tree, the wreaths, the fireplace hangings and the dining table decorations.

Thinking of going on the next level without involving more artificial decorative items? Think berries! Take a fine look at all your decorations and see where all can you use them without risking them going stale, soggy and stinking. Your wreaths, fireplace and dining table along with the food on it will certainly light up as the most promising avenues for using them.

The Wreaths

Rather than on the front door, berry-embellished wreaths are better placed within reach of your family and guests like near the fireplace in the family room or the centerpiece of your dining table. Strawberries are probably the best candidate for this craft with the help of a bit of Styrofoam, pins, ribbons and usual holiday ornaments preferably edible if available. Cherries, blueberries and blackberries too make a great addition to normal wreaths which are to be hung someplace also providing a break in the usual red-green color scheme.

Let your guests know about the edibility of your decorations! With real fruits involved, your dcor will need replacing every night or two days depending on the number of people at your home.

The Dining Table

Every festive dining table must have a centerpiece the way the delicious turkey sits on a Thanksgiving table. If youve decided to go with the fruits and berries theme this Christmas, typically your menu would also show. A miniature berry holiday tree would make up a fine edible centerpiece to succeed your dessert, say your personal interpretation of your familys blackberry pie recipe. All it would take is Styrofoam, toothpicks, mints and any other decorative additions that you could possibly fit it to make look like a berry Christmas tree.

Dont forget to use the foliage from various berry plants and small dainty flowers used in bouquets to further present an organic look to your dining table.

Strewn Around Home

Let your home display the greenery and colours lacking in the snow covered outdoors to add warmth and festive vibe to the celebrations inside. Small pots can be kept on various side tables or center table containing water and some foliage. Just before guests arrive, these pots can be topped with small berries that can be eaten off during conversations. Starters with berries can be served with chocolate or other similar dips.

Of course, how can the mistletoe hangings be left out! Get creative with how you can use these bright little fruits to make unusual edible decorations.
