Cutting A Concrete Floor With Diamond Tools
There are times when you may have to cut the concrete floor of the basement
. You need to have the right kind of tools to cut through properly without causing any damage. The floor can be cut in a number of ways using diamond tools. A basic circular tool with dry-cutting diamond blade can be used for cutting a depth of about 3 inches deep in the concrete. If you want to make deeper cuts, use the concrete cutoff saw. It has larger blades and is specially designed to cut the
concrete floor to a depth of about 5-7.5 inches. When you cut concrete, there may be large amount of dust that can be very annoying. This can be prevented by using diamond tools featuring wet-cutting system.
To cut the concrete floor, first mark the area where you want to cut. Use a chalk box to make the markings. Before cutting check the area to see if there are any pipelines or wirings running below. Keep the saw ready by fixing the right blade. If you are going to use the wet saw, attach the water-supply lines. To prevent dust build-up while cutting, open all the basement doors and windows. Then power the saw as per the instructions given on the tool.
Keep the front tip of the saw against the floor where you want to cut. The blade should be in line with your marking so that you can cut exactly how you require. Squeeze the power trigger and bring the blade to full rotation. Slowly, lower the blade into the concrete for cutting. Meanwhile, you have to push the saw forward so that the blade makes the cut along the markings. To remove the debris formed while cutting, rock the tool blade back and forth a bit. When the cutting is complete, bring the blade to a complete stop. The blade may be very hot and it is better to avoid touching it immediately when the work is done.
While using the
diamond tools for cutting a concrete floor, always use all the necessary protection gear to avoid all kinds of accidents. Wear a mask, ear protection and safety glasses while operating the saw. Once the cutting is done, you can carry on with the necessary changes. Before cutting use the floor plan to know about the electrical conduits, plumbing lines and other types of cabling below the floor. This will help you to mark and cut the concrete floor without causing any damage to any of these lines.
