Cyrus Sahukar - Indian Video Jockey
Cyrus Sahukar was born on 6th of August, 1980 in Indore
. His father is Behram Sahukar, a Parsi colonel, and his mother is Nimeran, a Punjabi writer. He has a sister, Preeti Philip, an artist, who is fourteen years old elder to him. Cyrus was brought up in Delhi. He did his schooling from St Columbus.
Cyrus got onto theatre right from an early age. He used to actively take part in school plays from the age of six. He began his amateur theatre stint at the age of eleven and also was the singer in his school band.
By the age of fourteen, Cyrus was a part of Kiran Bedi Literacy Mission Program, where he along with other school students performed educational skits for the inmates of Tihar Jail. He had joined the Barry John theatre group and acted in a play directed by Barry John Haroun and the Sea of Stories.
It was at the age of fifteen, Cyrus made his first attempt as a professional singer with the musical show, Thank You For The Music, directed by Stephen Marazzi. He later joined Roshan Abbas to work on radio jingles, the first being a jingle of Harpic. He also acted in the plays tar light Express and Graffiti Postcards from School, both directed by Roshan Abbas. He also hosted a radio show at TGIF in Delhi called Radio Rampage at the age of sixteen.
At the age of seventeen, Cyrus Sahukar hooked Mtv India. He had just accompanied a friend, who was quite keen on becoming a VJ, for the nationwide mtv vj Hunt in Mumbai. Cyrus gave it a shot and got in, but his friend did not.
Cyrus Sahukar made his first ever Bollywood appearance in the Anupam Kher directorial film, om jai jagdish (2002), starring Anil Kapoor, Fardeen Khan, Abhishek Bachchan. In the film, Cyrus played himself. Om jai jagdish (2002), however, was not much significant for Cyrus career as the film bombed and Cyrus hardly any scope in it.
In the year 2006, Cyrus played the role of a struggling radio jockey, RJ Rahul, in rang de basanti (2006), starring Bollywood megastar Aamir Khan and directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra. The film was extremely well received. His role was very short but director was impressed and Cyrus was roped in for the director next film too that is, Delhi6 (2009).
In Delhi6 (2009), starring Abhishek Bachchan and Sonam Kapoor, Cyrus played Suresh, a two timing photographer who fancies Sonam Kapoor character in the film. Delhi6, though, failed to do well.
In AISHA (2010), starring Sonam Kapoor and Abhay Deol, and directed by Rajshree Ojha, Cyrus played one among a gang of super rich friends living it up in Delhi. The film was an adaptation of Jane Austen novel Emma. Others in the gang were Arunoday Singh, Ira Dubey, Amrita Puri and Lisa Hayden. In this film, Cyrus got more screen space compared to his previous films. AISHA (2010) was an average performer at the Box Office.
