Cystitis In Women Causes, Symptoms And Treatment

Cystitis can be referred as the urinary disease related to bladder which is characterized

by severe pain associated with urination; urination becomes frequent as often as every 10 minutes, urgency, and pressure in the bladder or pelvis. In case of cystitis patients may also experience nocturia, pelvic floor dysfunction, pain with sexual intercourse, and can feel discomfort in working, traveling, driving etc. From comprehensive research it has been studied that the quality of life of some IC patients is equivalent to those with end stage renal failure. Cystitis can affect men and women of all cultures, ages, socioeconomic backgrounds. This kind of disorder is more common in females than in men. Most of the women are affected by cystitis and they have to undergo from a difficult situation.

The cause of Cystitis is unknown. Cystitis has no exact cause though several theories have been put forward. But the common cause of cystitis is bacterial infection. Nearly all the episodes of cystitis are caused by bowel bacteria named as E coli. Bowel is said to be full of bacteria from the intestines. And E coli are one of the bacteria in bowel. There are also some bacteria which are harmless and reside normally on the skin. Urine in the bladder generally contains few bacteria. Urinating usually washes away the germs and that germs may enter in the bladder which will cause bacterial infections and further can cause cystitis.

The symptoms of cystitis are often misdiagnosed as a common bladder infection. The symptoms of cystitis attributes to prostatitis, epididymitis, uterine fibroids and endometriosis. The most common symptom which is found in almost 100% of patients is pain. Some other symptoms are -

1. Painful urination and the pain worsened with certain drink or food.

2. Some patients feel dysuria-burning sensation in the urethra at the time of urination.

3. Urination becomes frequent as often as every 10 minutes.

4. Some patients have the tendency to urinate at night on frequent basis.

5. One can feel difficulty in traveling, driving etc.

There are several treatments with the help of which cystitis can be cured effectively. Transvaginal manual therapy of the pelvic floor musculature is that therapy which has shown promise in relieving the pain associated with cystitis disease. Pelvic floor treatment is also considered as one of the effective treatment for curing patients suffering from cystitis.
