Dane Cook Tickets - Slapstick Humor On The Silver Screen
While comedian Dane Cook didn't pick up the role of Spider Man for the fourth installment
of the series, that doesn't mean he's given up hopes of becoming a critically acclaimed movie star. According to MTV's Movie Blog, Cook is set to star in a new film, "Detention," along with Josh Hutcherson. Though quite the contradiction to a superhero role, with Hutcherson on board the teen horror flick will likely find critical acclaim.
Cook is also set to appear in another Hollywood production, "Guns, Girls and Gambling," alongside Christian Slater, Gary Oldman and Sam Trammell. While he's got the talent to lead him to film, it is his comedy that originally got him a name. Get Dane Cook tickets from StubHub to see him on the comedy circuit.
Dane Cook is one of the top-selling standup comedians. While his name is synonymous with comedy sketches and laughs, he's also seen crossover success as an actor, taking on roles in mainstream flicks like "Employee of the Month," "Good Luck Chuck," "Dan in Real Life" and "My Best Friend's Girl." The transition comes easily for the Boston brat, as most of the films are based in the slapstick comedy he has come to perfect within clubs around the nation. While it may seem that his humor is juvenile, the hardworking Cook is anything but immature.
Cook began his career in comedy at a young age, but didn't start working on improv until the late '90s. He picked up some basic talents with Al and the Monkeys, and moved on to solo gigs in small local comedy clubs around Massachusetts. He earned a stint on David Letterman and Craig Kilborn's late night shows before Comedy Central gave him an episode of "Comedy Central Presents." It didn't take long for audiences to catch on to his observational humor, as Cook found an underground following. In 2003 he released the debut album Harmful if Swallowed, which sold well in the comedy circuit and gave him crossover appeal.
His sophomore album Retaliation eventually plugged him as the best comic of his generation, earning double platinum status and marking the best selling comedy set in three decades (alongside the likes of Bill Crosby, George Carlin and Steve Martin). The album debuted in the Top 10 of Billboard 200, enabling the East Coast native to turn it up a notch in the acting world. He started adding movie roles to his resume, and released the third comedy album Rough around the Edges: Live from Madison Square Garden in 2007.
Cook was named Rolling Stone's "Hot Comic," Stuff Magazine's "Coolest Comic of the Year" and won Comedy Central's "Standup Showdown." In 2009 Cook released Isolated Incident, a deeply personal comedy album that comes after the death of both his mother and father. While the album is darker than previous sets, Isolated Incident peaked at the top of Billboard's Comedy Albums and Independent Albums chart and fourth on the Billboard 200. Seeing his continued support of Isolated Incident shows the world just what he is capable of.
