Dating Over 40 and Starting All Over Again
I almost had a mental break down after I turned 40. Everyone told me that it was a mid life crisis. I do not know what it was, but I lost my husband because of it. I still do not understand what happened. I know that my husband decided that he was not going to put up with it any more and left me.
So, here I was starting all over again, dating over 40. This was not a position I wanted to be in. I have dated younger men after my divorce. I know the ridicule that followed me everywhere when I showed up at family functions with a new guy on my arm. I could hear the whispers. I thought I was something special because of it. I have since learned my lesson.
Learning about myself has really helped me realize that I am obligated to keep my partner in the loop. I have learned how to communicate better on a whole new level. So, I took a break from dating for a while. The hiatus was much needed and really helped me clear up a lot of issues I was having. I hate to say that people were right, but my mid life crisis really helped me see that I was nothing special. I was just a middle aged woman trying to make sense of her life.
So, here I am dating over 40, and wondering how to jump back onto the saddle. I decided to let online dating have a chance in my love life. I filled out some questions, and posted my picture. Within a couple of days I found a few people that I matched up with.
I went on the first two dates and came back empty handed. I just was not into the men I had met. It was the third date that turned out to be something pretty special. I have been dating him for a little over 5 months, and there does not seem to be an end in sight. I do not want an end either.
I really am happier than I have ever been. If anyone were to ask me what I thought about online dating, I would tell them that they need to try it, and let someone else makes the match for them.
