Daughter Sues Boehringer Ingelheim After Mothers Death From Pradaxa Bleeding

In a new lawsuit was filed on November 13, 2012 filed in the District Court of Illinois

, a grieving daughter has filed a lawsuit against the drug manufacturer Boehringer Ingelheim for alleged death of her mother due to Pradaxa side effects. The lawsuit was filed both individually and as the administrator of the estate of Lydia Banks, her late mother.

According to the lawsuit filed by the Jennifer Banks and her unsafe drug attorney, her mother Lydia Banks was diagnosed with atrial fibrillation in the year of 2011 and was prescribed Pradaxa by the medical officer. However, immediately after using the drug she suffered severe gastrointestinal bleeding which led to her death. With the lawsuit the plaintiff brings multiple counts against the defendant like failure to warn, design defect, misrepresentation, loss of consortium and fraudulent concealment. The plaintiff felt strongly about the incidence and seeks compensatory and punitive damages along with the legal fees and medical expenses that she incurred during the whole period.

What is Pradaxa

Pradaxa is a blood thinning drug that was approved by the Food and Drug Administration in the year of 2010 under an expedited review process. The drug Pradaxa manufactured by the pharmaceutical giant Boehringer Ingelheim is an anticoagulant from the class of the direct thrombin inhibitors used for various clinical indications. The drug was widely recognized and considered as an effective alternative to Warfarin.

However, immediately after its launch people began complaining about its side effects health threats that it pose to consumers. Viewing the growing number of Pradaxa lawsuits the drug is under the scrutiny of federal agency FDA.

The pill should be swallowed completely without distorting the original form

Avoid using any unused capsules if it has been longer than 4 months since you first opened the bottle.
