Learning how to cure a slice is the top priority for most golfers with this annoying shot

. While there are many other types of golf shot flaws (hook, shank, etc.), none are as frustrating or annoying as that wild curve ball to the right. Learning how to cure a slice does not have to be complicated or confusing.

Probably the chief cause of the slice in the first instance is not taking your time to set up your address of the ball.

So obviously that is the first possible cause of your slice to check. Make sure your feet and shoulders are lined up correctly. Check that your right foot is underneath your right shoulder. When you set up with an open or closed shoulder, the ball will not travel straight.

When you are sure that you are addressing the ball correctly check if you are gripping the club correctly. If you grip the club too tightly your swing will be restricted. A nice, firm grip is best.


Then check the position your hands are on the shaft. Look down on your hands. You should see no more and no less than two knuckles on your right hand. Adjust your grip till those two knuckles show.

If your shots end up going left often, you may have a problem with your hip turn. Your hips must make a smooth, full turn throughout your whole swing. The reason for this is to strike the ball with the face of the club square.

Many golfers will lift their heads to see where the ball is going.Of course this temptation must be overcome.

Swinging the club to fast is another very common mistake. This is often done because many golfers wrongly believe that a fast swing speed will give more distance. Speed is important but it should come from the whole body, not just the hands.

Learning how to cure a slice is requires spending time determining the cause of the problem. Whatever bad habit is causing the problem then has to be undone.
