1999 the DDS technology rise its level with more data storage capacity and speed with 20 GB native and 40 GB with compressed data with much enhanced 150M tape reel and 3.2 MB/Sec with its DDS-4, this is also known as DAT40,
DAT 72, or DDS-5, was introduced in 2003 with data storage capacity of 36 GB native and 72 GB compressed data can be stored on a single cartridge with tape reel length 170M.
2007 years when DAT technology reached its peak and gives the best DDS-6, format with 80GB native and 160 GB compressed data storage ability with 6.9 MB data transfer speed. Tape reel also improved its length and with 8mm wide, with new improved DAT160, tape drive which offer it compatibility to DAT 72, and DAT 40, and perform reliable backward reading and writing ability.
HP developed DAT320, format in 2009, with most advanced data storage capability with 160 GB native and 320 GB with compressed data with 12MB/Sec data transfer speed.
