Dealing With A Cheating Spouse: The One Place You Never Want To Go
How strong are the emotions when it comes to finding out your significant other is cheating
? One recent incident illustrates the point. According to the Arizona Republic, "A man was stabbed in the leg Saturday morning after he admitted cheating on his paraplegic girlfriend, police said."
It could have been worse as statistics and daily news stories bear out. Finding out your spouse is cheating has sent a lot of people over the edge. The impact of the news can have you going from one extreme to the next. You experience emotions that you never thought you would encounter or at least hoped that you wouldn't.
And the one emotion that unfortunately (but understandably) rises above all the rest is anger. That anger is often directed inward for not realizing what was going on or blaming ourselves for the breakdown of the relationship.
But usually that anger is directed at where it rightfully belongs. The significant other who cheated and if you are not vigilante it can spin out of control
Part of the problem is their betrayal is not only a direct affront to the marriage but also your pride. No one is going to betray or make a fool out of you. As times goes on they get angrier and start convincing themselves that they have to take action. Except that action turns to something extreme like violence
Very bad move. For one thing it is not going to alter the past but more importantly is no one has the right to physically assault anyone. If you feel that strongly than by all means pack up and leave. Then go out and hire the best divorce lawyer you can afford.
But hurting someone is not an option. The betrayal is bad enough without you permanently destroying their life as well as you own.
