Nighttime incontinence is a result of having an overactive bladder. For a few tips to help you become more comfortable with your condition, you should consider monitoring your liquid intake especially at night. If you dont think you can abide by not drinking anything beyond 6 in the evening, you should at least watch how much you drink a few hours before you sleep.
It would also be best if you watch what you eat. You might not know it but there are things in your diet that can affect your bladder. Among them is coffee and sodas which contain caffeine. Other foods that also have caffeine as its ingredient can cause you to urinate because of its diuretic component.
Before you go to bed, try to at least give peeing a shot. Do it twice. Sometimes you might not feel it but once you are in the rest room, you might be able to urinate a small amount and thats good. At least youve emptied your bladder this way.
Kegel exercises are also known to be very helpful for people who are suffering with nighttime incontinence. The exercises are effective because it helps relax the bladder, therefore regulating its urination. Kegel exercises also help you control bladder spasms to avoid wetting your bed. At least you would still be able to control and hold your pee just in time to reach the bathroom.
