Flare-ups- they are every eczema sufferers worst nightmare. Unfortunatley sometimes they simple can not be avoided. The best we can do is keep them under control and realise what is triggering them so we can work on preventing that in the future.
Often eczema is a result of an allergy, It could be anything from pollution to dust to your pet cat. I always advise to write down every time you get a flare up and what you have done that day. Only then will you be able to put some correlations together between your allergic reaction and your eczema flare up.
One of the main pieces of advice I can give to you is wear cotton. Eczema comes on often as a result of sweat. It is important in this case that the skin is allowed to breathe. This is best done by buying pure cotton that can be worn as a vest or jumper. Cotton allows the skin to breathe, thus keeping the body cool and allowing the skin to breathe.
The skin often becomes dry and this means that eczema is more likely to take effect. How can we stop the skin becoming dry? well the skin is just like your body. Your skin needs hydration so remember to moisturise anything up to once an hour. I do not mean use a steroid cream but use a natural cream that won't bleech the skin or cause damage.
I also advise to bandage the area during night to stop over night itching- if this is too much efffort just cut those fingernails!!!
