Decide What Material To Use For Your Duffel Bag
A duffel bag is an over-the-shoulder carrying case with a variety of compartments
. Whether you are headed to the gym or going on a trip, a duffel bag is easy to travel with because of its lightweight material, foldability, expandability and thick, supportive straps for toting heavier loads. If you are interested in designing your own duffel bag, study the design of preexisting bags and determine what types of changes you could make to make the bag more effective for you.
Draw a rectangle with rounded edges. This is the main frame concept of your duffel bag. Duffel bags have a rectangular shape as the primary space where your garments or other items are packed, with compartments that expand from there.
Include handles and shoulder straps. Duffel bags usually provide consumers with handles and shoulder straps so that they can choose the most comfortable way to carry the bag. Decide whether you want to have two handles and one shoulder strap, or two handles and two shoulder straps, or no handles and only a shoulder strap.
Add your additional compartments and pockets to your rectangular duffel bag. Think about your personal needs for the bag, and design the compartments to accommodate them. For instance, if you want to use your duffel bag for your golfing clothes and accessories, you might want a special compartment just for golf balls and tees. As such, your pocket would have a pouch-shaped design to hold the balls, and a zipper enclosure to make sure the balls do not roll out of the pouch.
Design the opening and closure of the duffel bag. The opening and closure is situated at the top of the duffel bag, but can be designed in a variety of ways. One way is to have a middle zipper that splits open two equal sides of the duffel bag. This allows you to place and extract your bag's contents by reaching through the midsection of the bag. Another option for the opening and closure is to create a square that zips open on three sides. The fourth, unzipped side is the edge of the duffel bag, allowing the unzipped section of the bag's top to open up. The square-shaped zipper design is not as long as the zipper that runs down the middle of the bag.
Decide what material to use for your duffel bag. You can choose from leather, canvas and polyester blends. Depending on your activities, you might want a sporty-looking duffel bag, one that is water-resistant or a more fashionable look.
Figure out if you want a sturdy bottom on your duffel bag or a duffel bag that does not have a sturdy bottom. Sturdy bottoms keep the shape of the duffel bag oblong so that the bag does not completely collapse. However, if you want to roll up or fold your duffel bag when it is not in use, a bottom that is not sturdy allows you to do so easily.
Customize your duffel bag. If you are making your duffel bag for a particular sporting event, you can put your team name or player number on the bag with stitching or an iron-on patch.
