When you are trying to declutter your home you need to keep a good mindset

. Most people underestimate the importance of this fact and that is why they get overwhelmed and quit when working to organize their home.

I can attest to this, because unless I have the correct plan of attack in my head, I'll end up not getting any lasting good done on my home organization. I hate it when I give up on a project because I get overwhelmed and just sick of trying. What makes all the difference is where my head is at. I have to have the right mindset or I will fail.

You must have a good goal in mind, that is key to your success. Don't start the decluttering and organizing until you've firmly chosen a goal for that session. This is like other areas of life where goals are so important; you need to stick to your goal so you don't get off-track and overwhelmed.

Your goal that you've chosen should be small and easy to accomplish, and then do not do anything that detracts from you reaching that goal. Don't let distractions throw you off-task Keep your direction moving only towards reaching that goal! This is an instance where you don't want to focus on the big picture, just worry about getting your small goal completed.

Why do I keep repeating myself about sticking to your goal? Accomplishing a goal, no matter how small it may be, gives you something you can see real positive results in. But more importantly it is a big morale boost for you; it feels great to accomplish goals and motivates you to do more. Little by little, small goal after small goal, you will soon have complete control over your home and your possessions.
