Everyone has to deal with stress on a daily level

. Stress actually is a good thing when it is in low doses because it motivates us to take care of things.

Too much stress will eat away at your life though. I believe that an area of our lives that is overlooked in its addition to stress, is the clutter we live in. Yes that is right, clutter, whether it be in the form of a cluttered house or a cluttered schedule, can and will increase the amount of stress in your life. I have two huge reasons why reducing clutter in your life will help get rid of tension and stress you experience.

A cluttered home causes stress every day. In our natural states, we really don't like clutter; we like some semblance of structure in our living space. People end up growing numb to it and become overwhelmed the enormity of the decluttering task before them, should they ever actually try cleaning up their living space.

A messy home is harder to live in because when items are randomly strewn about the home or there is unwanted junk everywhere, it is hard to find important items when you need them. You're much more likely to lose track of important documents or items in a messy home. I know this is true for me, when my home was cluttered I lost my wallet, ipod and passport all on different occasions; talk about causing stress!

Another way that a cluttered home causes stress has to do with all the extra energy, physical and mental, that is expended throughout the day because of the clutter. When you are wasting time and effort looking for items throughout the day, your stress level may be increasing as well. You may not think much of it at the time, but it can add up, day after day after day. Completing tasks, from getting dressed and ready to go out, cooking, and cleaning all take more effort in a cluttered, unorganized home. If you can declutter fast in little chunks throughout the day or in big chunks every day or so, your home will become a much more efficient, happy and low-stress zone. I can promise you that!
