With Cinco de Mayo just around the corner, now is the time to start planning for your party or event. The great news about decorating for Cinco de Mayo, unlike other holidays like Christmas or Halloween, is that the decorations can be saved anyused again any time you have a fiesta themed party or event. It doesn't have to be a one time a year event.

Cinco de Mayo is the Mexican celebration of a battle against French troops in the nineteenth century, however, it has now become an opportunity to celebrate all things Mexico. The most important aspect of any fiesta or Mexican themed party is color, lots and lots of color. This can be most easily accomplished by using a Mexican serape blanket as a tablecloth for your buffet or bar. These blankets are the same ones that are often used in Mexican restaurants. They come in assorted colors and sizes, which makes it easy to find one just right for your specific need. If the tablecloth is not quite what you are looking for, you can use the same style serape, which is also available in the table runner size. These runners can be used on a white tablecloth or directly on the wood of a table or bar.

In addition to the tablecloths and runners,maracas also make great table decor or center pieces. They also come in assorted colors and have the added benefit of being a great noise maker for kids and adults alike. Add a simple palm sombrero to the table and you have a great and authentic Mexican centerpiece.

Depending on the type of fiesta you are having, you can also implement a pinata into the celebration. This is sure to get the kids excited with the prospect of candy and treats.

No matter what decorations you decide on, just make sure they are colorful and easy. The most important part of any party is to make your guests feel at ease and to make an enjoyable atmosphere for all.
