Delhi University is considered to be the best University in India

. The University of Delhi was established in 1922 by an Act of the then Central Legislative Assembly. Only three colleges of Delhi namely St. Stephens College, Hindu College and Ramjas College were affiliated to the University. At that time only two faculties Arts and Science and with strength about 750 students were in the University.

The present status of the University is that it has 14 faculties, 86 academic departments and 79 colleges spread all over the city, with about 2,20,000 students. The University is UGC recognized University and also the member of the Association of Indian University. The procedures are going on for developing east and west campus. The east campus will focus on medical science and the west campus will focus on science and technology.

The vice chancellor of the University is Mr. Deepak Pental and pro vice chancellor Mr. Tandon Sampat Kumar. The proctor of the University is Prof. Gurmeet Singh and other administrative members.

The colleges that come under Delhi University are Acharya Narendra Dev College, College of Arts, Bhagini Nivedita College, Deshbandhu College, Indraprastha College for Women, Institute of Home Economics, Kalindi College, Keshav Mahavidyalaya, Lady Irwin College, Lady Shri Ram College for Women, Lakshmi Bai College, Miranda House College,

Maulana Azad Medical College, Moti Lal Nehru College, Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology, Shivaji College, Sri Aurbindo College, Shri Ram College of Commerce, Zakir Husain College, Vivekanand College, Vallabhbhai Patel Chest Institute, Swami Shraddhanand College, St. Stephens College and many good colleges. The cut off percentage of the

colleges in the University is almost 90%.

The faculties of the University comprises of applied social sciences & humanities, arts, ayurvedic & unani medicine, commerce & business studies, applied sciences, law, management studies, mathematical sciences, medical sciences, music & fine arts, science and technology.
