DELTA NORTH SENATORIAL RACE: HON

DELTA NORTH SENATORIAL RACE: HON. PASCAL ADIGWE, YOURS SINCERELY. By Chris Okafor

Elections, campaigns, riggings and imposition of candidates against people`s will are all the characteristics of politics in Nigeria. This is a misleading metaphor that constitutes the wind against the souls of the electorates.

This, however, reminds me of a particular slogan then in the department of political science, University of Lagos during the early 90s which reads Life is politics and politics is life, It has always caught my fancy whenever I walked through the aisle then to Social Science Student Association meetings otherwise known as (SOSSA). Those who study political science or political engineering and art of politicking can attest to this slogan.

It emerges that in Nigeria most people who present themselves for political offices through elections has no single reason why they want to be voted in that particular office neither do they possess any quality attributes to be there or indeed, have anything to offer. This could be spotted from their manifestos and ideologies. It seems rather remarkable that people who aspire to various government offices are very much interested in enriching themselves to the detriment of the people rather than leaving a legacy behind. Somehow, they got into that office not because they are the people choice but because they are election-rigging specialists which invariably can explain why they have no single concern for the people they ought to represent.

The Delta North Senatorial District has been in a complete shamble and total neglect since the commencement of the existing political structures in Nigeria as a result of personal greed and catastrophic policy failures. Failure arises when you lacked experience and expertise or when you do not understand the working knowledge of a particular task. When you cheat your way to certain achievement, it seems highly likely that you are doomed to fail in practice and this is true to all strata of human endeavor. The still-controversial idea that humans have specialized decision making systems in addition to generalized reasoning ability has been around for decades. Its advocates points out that the ability to identify untrustworthy people should be favored evolutionarily, since cheats risk undermining the social interactions in which people trade goods or services for mutual benefits. This is rather an infinite regress. Cheating is synonymous to failure and this is one of the fundamental reasons why individuals entrusted with the responsibilities of Delta North Senatorial District have absolutely nothing to show for it.

When Pascal Nwaoranine Lord-Mike Adigwe joined the race on the 3rd day of September, 2010 in his hometown Ogwashi-Uku before a mammoth crowd, it was with a great sign of relief for number of people that have across this highly motivated, affectionate, intelligent, and ambitious young man. Born during the protracted Nigerian Civil war, Pascal Adigwe, going by his antecedent, was not born with a silver spoon but through dint of hard work, perseverance and God guidance, he created silver spoon not only for himself and his family but to all that knows him.

In an era where most Nigeria politicians are used to cheating their ways to a particular office and clog to that position as if it is their birthright, Pascal Adigwe upon being elected to Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency against all odds in 2003 made a promise to be in the Federal House of Representatives for just four years in order to give chance to any potential and aspiring candidate. That promise was kept and at the same time honored. Throughout the period spent in the House, there was serious transparency and accountability as he was never indicted for misappropriation of public fund in any capacity or engaged in any form of misdemeanor.

It has been said, time without number, by our politicians after being elected that 4yrs is not enough to do a single project. Again, Pascal Adigwe proved that wrong. Within 4ys, Ogwashi-Uku Dam and roads leading to many areas within the localities were constructed including building houses for the homeless and incorporating Aniocha/Oshimili into NDDC and uncountable scholarship schemes for those that intend to further their educations.

Upon declaration for the seat of Senate, Pascal Adigwe came up with the following manifesto and lamented how painful it is that the whole of Ndokwaland that has the largest concentration of Gas in West Africa has no tertiary institution. He promised (1) more schools to bring back our past glory in education (2) Skill acquisitions centered in 3 constituencies to engage and empower the youths (3) Stronger presence of NDDC and Government Parastatals (4) To pursue vigorously policies for revitalization of industries and to create employment (5) Enhancement of our cultural heritage and bridging the gap of social cleverage between Ndokwa, Ika and Enueni divide with government and people in order to reduce suspicion (6) Implementation of Child Rights Act, Insurance, identification scheme and grater Cooperate social responsibilities by oil companies and at the same time providing enabling environments.

Considering all these and excluding the distinctions between the faculties of intellectual reasoning, thoughts and sensible receptivity as exemplified by Pascal Adigwe would not only amount to error of judgment but that of subreption.

Writing about Pascal Adigwe especially those that hardly met him is replete with myriad of misconceptions, fabrications and innuendo often orchestrated by his politically foes and pundits to bring down his rising profile. In the face of all these, he has always stood tall.

To most friends who has failed in their daily struggle to succeed and survive and disheartened by the scattered debris of a fallen dream, Pascal Adigwe has commiserated and lend a helping hand.He is, perhaps, the only messiah at this moment that the good people of Delta North Senatorial District can count on.

Professionally, He is not a soldier but his fighting spirit has continuously and consistently endear him to a General in the Army such that everything he touches automatically turn to gold.

He is NOT into this race to make money or fame that God have already endowed him with. He is here to prove a point. A point that what most people failed to accomplish for so many years in Delta North, he can do that within a short time.

Without sentiment, Pascal Adigwe appears to be the most viable candidate among all his contemporaries and I urge all the good people of Delta North to vote him to the Senate. He represents the change that we all crave for in this time of our nation history. He is a working phenomenon that has both been tested and trusted privately and publicly. His visions as demonstrated by aforementioned ideologies singled him out as a man whose mission cannot be attributed to failure.

Vote wisely; vote for Pascal Lord-Mike Adigwe for Senate and I guarantee he will never let you down.
