A dentist also known as a maxillofacial dentist can repair dental birth defects such as a cleft palate. An oral surgeon dentist may also choose to extract wisdom teeth which requires oral surgery. There are many dentist specialties within oral surgery that a dentist may choose to focus his/her services.

Orthodontic dentistry is when a dentist focuses on positioning teeth correctly. A orthodontic dentist uses small dental mechanical tools to provide the services and dental treatments to move teeth to their correct positions. Pediatric dentistry is when a dentist focuses on dental care for children. A pediatric dentist is much like a general dentist, but with more specialized dental training and dental school in the area of dental problems and dental issues that children face. And endodontic dentistry is when a dentist focuses on the care and services needed to treat problems with the inside of teeth.
