Proenza Schouler design is a high-end brand for women's clothing's. Jack McCullough and Lazaro Hernandez, are both New York-based. The pair originally met in 1999 while studying at Parsons School of Design. During school, Hernandez interned at Michael Kors and McCollough interned at Marc Jacobs They took their mothers' maiden names to design the label's collections after her. They graduated at Parsons School of Design in 2002 with their collection of Proenza Schouler. They have won the CFDA Perry Ellis Award for new talent in 2003, CFDA Designer of the Year Award in 2007 for women's wear, and also the CFDA Accessory designer of the year award 2009. Proenza Schouler take abstract inspirations from a wide array of modern art references, from the large-scale land art of Donald Judd's Marfa, Texas to the Pop Art movement. Their muses include the actress and fashion icon Chlo Sevigny, who appears on the cover of the magazine, starry-eyed in a soft and alluring image by Richard Burbridge.Proenza Schouler designs are typically sporty and youthful, with occasional mod elements. Their shapes are often minimal and sleek, and they prefer dark neutral colours. Representative pieces include tailored coats in lush menswear pattern prints, thin pencil skirts, and colour-blocked chiffon evening gowns cinched with satin belts. For Spring 2007, the design duo created an affordable collection of clothing and accessories for Target Corporation's Go International line.5 Stores that sell Proenza Schouler's full-priced line include Barneys New York, Neiman Marcus, and Bergdorf Goodman. This year, Proenza Schouler collaborates with Giuseppi Zanotti for a line of shoes, which will expand to 100 styles in spring of 2009.
