Designing Using A Corner Bathroom Sink
The perfect way to make the most of a small space is with a corner bathroom sink
. You may have a small area that you want to put a half bath in where the corner sink would fit nicely. Or you might have an existing bathroom undergoing renovation that would benefit from installing a corner sink to maximize space and add a little charm to the room. New faucets and a new toilet will freshen up the bathroom significantly as well. You can choose from a variety of styles like the pedestal, console, vessel, basin, wall mount and utility sink.
The pedestal sink is easy to clean and visually gives you more space. It hides the plumbing of the drain and the trap and saves space when placed in a corner. Made from vitreous china the basin rests on a matching pedestal and attaches to the wall for safety. With a matching toilet it can add a lot of charm to a small bathroom space.
Console sinks are larger wall mounted styles that have decorative legs and offer a larger vanity surface. Some include towels bars. This style of sink can be placed against a corner wall to optimize space.
A great design for a corner is a wall mounted sink. This style is great for the small bathroom as it takes up very little space visually and physically. As they don't have storage beneath them it is nice to add a storage unit on the wall to keep the floor space open yet give you storage area.
If you have an existing counter top design a basin sink can be dropped into the opening. It can be recessed into the counter top or under mounted. It is an inexpensive choice to use when you want to replace just a sink and the faucet.
The vessel sink is the interior designer's dream. These sinks are sometimes hand made and sit on top of a counter top. This ornate bowl can be hammered metal or china and has wall mounted faucets that reminds one of a Roman bath. They are elegant and beautiful and take up as much space as the counter top beneath them does.
A utility sink is commonly used for bathing animals or for non-human deep sink activities such as rinsing out a bucket after mopping the floor. They can be made from cast iron similar to claw foot tub construction. They are either recessed into a sink stand, wall mounted or under mounted. This style of sink is often found in a garage or in a laundry room.
You can make your bathroom more attractive, much more functional and utilize the space better using a corner sink. When you are remodeling your bathroom and are having trouble placing the sink, a corner can be the perfect solution. Instead of knocking out a wall to increase the size of your bathroom rearranging the placement of the sink and toilet could save you a lot of time. If you have purchased an older home, which typically has a 5 by 8 foot bathroom, just by upgrading the toilet and using corner storage and sinks you can gain a lot of space.
