I have seen this technologyin the CSIR Technofest 2010, showcased by Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), New Delhi, at India International Trade Fair during November 14-27, 2010 New Delhi, India. I understand that "Desktop Flight Simulator" was developed by National Aerospace Laboratories, Bangalore, under the aegis of CSIR, New Delhi.

Airbus aircraft designs are almost completely controlled by fly-by-wire equipment. These operate under Airbus flight control Laws. The flight controls on the Airbus 330, for example, are all electronically controlled and hydraulically activated. Some surfaces, such as the rudder, can also be mechanically controlled. While in normal flight the computers act to prevent excessive forces in the pitch and roll.

After introduction of computers, everything made it easy and hence even flight controls laws also. NAL, Bangalore made a desktop flight simulator for designing and evaluating these laws.

Designing and evaluating the flight controls laws is made easy by Desktop Flight Simulator (DFS). The DFS allows engineers to design the flight control laws and evaluate it by virtually flying the aircraft.

Pilot inputs through generic USB joystick

Visual cues with the open source FlightGear Interface

Generic Flight Displays

Real Time plotting and data logging

Minimum requirements: Dual core PC with 4 GB RAM
