If you are deciding on which to choose; laptop or desktop when it comes to performance, then there are several important things that you should consider in order for you to be able to come up with the right decision which will best suit your computing needs.
First, what you need to do is to determine your computing needs. You should be able to define what the things that you will use the computer for so that you may be able to know which type of computer is the right one for you.
If in case that your computing needs requires you to have a powerful computer, then you should go with desktops since desktops are more powerful as compared to laptops when it comes to computing performance. Setting up a desktop is also less expensive than purchasing a laptop computer. But the disadvantage of using a desktop computer is that you will not be able to bring it anywhere you go unlike with laptops. With laptops, you can bring it almost anywhere you want. Laptop computers have batteries this is why you can bring them anywhere without needing to plug it into an electrical outlet.
But if in case that you are not concerned with the cost of your desired computer then you can just purchase a laptop which has the equal performance of a desktop computer. But then again, since laptops are more expensive than desktops, do not expect that you will be able to find a laptop that has the same cost and performance of a desktop computer.
It is also important to take note that upgrading a laptop may not be that easy as compared to upgrading a desktop computer. Since laptops are compact, it will be hard to disassemble it and upgrade its parts. Laptops are also proprietary when it comes to their forma factors.
