The size of the television and the sound size is important for the size, if you get too much power in a small room you won't be able to appreciate it. If it's going to a bigger room later it's ok, but don't waste the space or the money if the room is smaller. Only buy what's necessary, some will tend to go too big, so be careful as you make the decisions, don't get carried away, you can use any extra money somewhere else in the setup.

Once you decide on the television, it is sometimes a good idea to keep with the same brand for the surround sound system. Sticking with the same manufacturer for the television and surround sound system makes the hook ups a little easier. Often times, manufacturers want their components to be used together so they make the components fit together easy. They want you to be able to get better performance and make it easier for the user.
