Develop Internet Skills That Small Businesses Will Pay For
One way to make money with your own small business is to provide an Internet Marketing service that is in demand
. Your target market is other small business owners who do not know how to do what you offer, or they are to busy to do it themselves.
I would suggest providing a service that lets you target a large market. Providing Internet based services will let you do that as the world wide web is your market.
For example, just in the United States over 50% of all small businesses still do not have a website. An even higher percentage do not have a mobile website. Learn how to provide this service and you can build a full time online business of your own.
Another thing you can do is go to Fiverrr.com and see what the workers there are offering for $5. Start writing everything down that you could turn into a service you sell to small business owners.
For example, some people at Fiverr will set up a WordPress blog for $5. Some will write a 500 word article for $5. You could package this and sell it as a website with content offer for $99 and keep $89 out of $99 for yourself.
Are you starting to get some ideas? Nothing is out of bounds if there is a need for it.
How do you market your new service? You will primarily need 3 things.
1. A Paypal account. This is free to set up and an easy way to get paid for your services.
PayPal is owned by eBay and is the largest payment processor in the world. They are also becoming more widely known in the offline business world. I recently purchased something at Home Depot and paid for it with my PayPal account.
2. Your own website. The best way to do this is to purchase a domain name and host it at Host Gator or any reputable hosting company.
I personally purchase domain names at Go Daddy and then transfer the name servers over to Host Gator.
This is a good hosting service because they have the Fantastico program. This lets you quickly upload a WordPress blog which you can use for your website.
Buy your own name as a domain name. You can even hirer somebody at Fiverr to do this for you which will allow you to get a better idea how that system works.
Once you have your site up add a payment button from PayPal so you can get paid. Then it is time to start marketing your service.
3. Join social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. Start to become active in them.
Join the discussion forums where a small business owner would be hanging out. A couple good ones are the Warrior Forum and Small-Business-Forum.com.
Create a signature file with a link back to your new website. Start participating in discussions and you will soon have people visiting your site and ordering your new service.
One final idea is to market your service on Craig's List in your local market. Many local business owners go there looking for people to do work for them.
The key to making this work is to develop Internet marketing skills that small business owners would be willing to pay you for. Then turn those into a business of your own that you can make money doing.
