If you would like to become an artist and successful one, it takes more than just talent and

practice. You will also need training. It may not be wise to go to a specialized art school early in your education. Go to college or university to develop other career options just in case you find that art is not your calling. But if you really know that it is your, stick to it and get educated! Figure out your weak points and overcome them.

You can create your art as a hobby in your basement studio for years, before success finds

you. It is really time demanding process. But never stop learning about your craft. Even if you are someone who is blessed with some natural ability, you still have room to grow, to learn how to get better at what you do and develop your talents. If you think that you are an artist, you probably aren't one. The realest makers of art are people who are taking risks and really don't care what they make and what other people think about it. If you are trying to become an artist, you will more probably never really be what you are trying to become. Just be yourself! Many believe that great artists are born with nothing more than talent. But it is not true, because artists spend years practicing and perfecting their techniques. No one is perfect and there are always many ways to learn throughout the whole life. It isn't enough to be born with talent. You can develop and perfect your skills with practice. Always be creating something using different techniques and styles. Continually grow and learn with each painting you create. Read books, blogs about art, artists, their eras and learn about their techniques.

But no matter how much you learn by reading, it is all in the doing that counts. Also,

remember it. Spend your time in art galleries studying art up close. The more you know and

practice, the better results will be. Dedicate as much time as you can to study art and to create your own artwork. Integrate yourself into the art community, attend exhibitions, museums and online art galleries.

Simply observe and capture what you see and then paint it. But always remember that

painting is not just mixing colors, it is a combination of your drawing skills, combined with mixing, plus learning how to compose and capture the subject. You should be patient with yourself, as you are learning. Spend enough time for your learning, it will help you in future. Surround yourself with art and information to reinforce your own efforts. Read about painting or look at original oil paintings every free minute you have. It is possible for everyone to learn how to paint, the only thing you need is desire to learn and to paint.
