Developing a Fatty Liver Disease Diet

The accumulation of large amounts of fat in liver describes fatty liver disease

. A person is normally diagnosed when the fat content is between 5 to 10 percent of the total weight of the liver. There are two types of this disease, which are alcoholic and nonalcoholic liver disease.

Developing a proper diet is important to help improve the condition. A person should also incorporate exercise as well. Doctors recommend several things that a person can do to prevent the disease from advancing to an even more serious condition.

When a person is trying to develop the best possible diet for this disease it is important to focus on a low calorie diet. It is suggested that a person follow a 1400-calorie diet plan. This diet should consist of foods that are high in fiber, low in saturated fat and low-glycemic level. It is recommended that a woman consume over 20 grams a day and a man over 30 grams a day of fiber. People should focus on adding unsaturated fat into their diet. Great sources include fish, nuts and olive oil. Foods that have a low-glycemic level are vegetables, fruits and beans.

Incorporating a fatty liver disease diet into your daily life is just one step a person can take. Another would be including daily exercise. People should participate in exercise for a minimum of 30 minutes three to four days a week. This daily exercise amount does not need to be completed at the same time. A person should focus on becoming more active in their daily lives. Walking can be a great way to the required amount of exercise. One does not want to lose weight too quickly when suffering with this liver disease because this could cause additional complications, instead a person should try to lose between one to two pounds a week.

In addition to creating a specific diet to improve the health of a person with this disease, he could take other steps. An obvious example is to refrain from drinking alcoholic beverages. They should also keep their cholesterol levels within the normal range. In the event a person suffers from diabetes in addition to fatty liver disease then they should take action to control their diabetes.
