A large population of the endangered Nilgiri Tahr flourishes in this park. It is a home to the largest viable population of Nilgiri Tahr in the world. It also provides shelter to other wildlife species such as lion-tailed macaque, leopards, gaurs, langur, elephants, sambars and tigers. Atlas Moth, the largest moth in the world is also found here.

Anamudi Peak

Located within the Eravikulam Park is the fascinating Anamudi Peak which is the highest peak in South India. It is an ideal place for trekking and also offers breathtaking views of the surroundings.

Also visit Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary in the Idukki district. It is a home to several wildlife species such as panthers, elephants, endangered giant grizzled squirrel, gaurs, spotted deer, spotted deer, sambar etc. As you mover 10 km from Munnar you will come face to face with the wonderful Mattupetti Dam.
