Diabetes Marketing- Busting The Myths Of The Disease
Diabetes affects approximately 16 million US citizens and about 800
,000 new health risks are diagnosed annually. A diagnosis of diabetes is made if your blood sugar reading is 126 mg / dL or more. People with type I diabetes are subject to episodes where the level of sugar in the blood is very high and very low. There are two main reasons for diabetes: A diet rich in carbohydrates and undernourishment and inadequacy.
Today, most people with diabetes are only treated with the symptoms and not finding the solution on the root of the problem. The incidence of diabetes has increased steadily worldwide. Diabetes is a disease in which blood sugar is above normal. Now for some serious myth busting about diabetes:
1. Can you possibly get diabetes from someone else?
Although we do not know exactly why some people have diabetes, we know that diabetes is not contagious, meaning you cannot acquire it from others. However, there is a chance that an individual whose parents or close family relations have diabetes can inherit diabetes too, especially type 2 diabetes. But the lifestyle factors also play a very crucial role.
2. Eating too much sugar can cause the disease.
Eating sugar does not cause diabetes. Diabetes is caused by a combination of factors like lifestyle and heritage. But having a diet rich in fat and sugar makes you gain weight and being overweight increases the risk of type 2 diabetes. If you have a history of diabetes in the family, living a healthy lifestyle is recommended to manage your weight.
3. Diabetes Type 2 is mild diabetes.
Diabetes does not exist as slight or borderline diabetes. All diabetes is equally serious. If not properly maintained may lead to serious complications.
4. Diabetic people cannot live sporty.
Totally not true. Many other people with diabetes are actively participating in sports and other creative lifestyles. In fact, staying active is one factor to avoid complications associated with diabetes such as heart disease.
5. People with diabetes are more prone to colds and other illnesses
Not true. However, people with diabetes are advised to be vaccinated against the flu. This is because any infection interferes with their control of blood glucose, can put risk for high levels of glucose in the blood. You can avoid or at least delay the onset of the same type II diabetes with proper nutrition and exercise.
The idea of getting a disease like diabetes can be very problematic. It is useful to be aware of what are symptoms of diabetes and be able to recognize early enough to get the help you need to get the disease under control.
