A diamond is composed of carbon and is the hardest natural substance in the world. A Diamond may be up to 3 billion years old and crystallization originates under intense heat and pressure some 160 kilometres beneath the earths surface. Diamonds are then transported to the Earths surface as small rough stones through magma eruptions. The process of transforming a raw uncut diamond into a brilliant reflective gemstone is a complex and precise art form. There are five main criteria that are important when selecting a diamond.
