When it comes to diamonds, the old adage that bigger is better is especially true. People always want the biggest diamond possible because of its value and what it symbolizes. A diamond is measured in carats. Usually, the more the carat weight, the more expensive the diamond. One carat is about average but diamonds can go well below and above this threshold. You can get a diamond as small as 1/10 and as large as 20 carats and even more. It is all dependent upon budget and need.

Quality Control

Not all diamonds are created equal. The quality varies from diamond to diamond. In fact, there is a whole system put into place to evaluate and grade these gemstones. The quality is based on the clarity of the diamond. This includes flaws and inclusions of the diamond. The fewer flaws there are, the better the quality. A diamond can be graded from flawless which is extremely rare to diamonds that are noticeably flawed. These types of stones are not recommended since they are generally considered to be of poor quality. The quality you choose is correlated with your budget and what you are comfortable spending. Keep in mind that you can still have a beautiful diamond without breaking the bank; there are several clarities that you can choose from.

Fire and Desire

Do you think that every diamond is white in color? Well, you may be surprised that these stones can come in a variety of colors. If you"re flirty and fun, check out a pink diamond. If you are looking for something especially regal and unique, check out a black diamond. In addition, there are yellow, orange, red and basically every color imaginable. However, white diamonds are still considered to be the most valuable because of their sparkle and fire.

Shape Up

Diamonds should be an expression of your personality. Therefore, you have a variety of shapes to choose from to best express who you are. If you are a princess, go for a princess cut. If you are into simplicity, try a round cut. You can go for marquis, pear or oval. The choices are endless.
