Diapering Your Precious Child
Changing the Diaper of a baby is very much needed but to look at it as a daily chore
would probably rob one of the magic between guardian and child at changing time. It is indeed a special chance for parent and child. The parent feels the intimate act of diapering is showing of love and affection. The child receives pampering, hygiene care and comfort.
When diapering done right, the baby enjoys and experiences the crucial act
of health and safety. The parents also get in the right rhythm with the baby. Generally, it helps in the child's growth, as slowly and steadily a child learns to be independent.
Diapering should be a teaching tool which can be used successfully to help children learn to be hygienic. It can also be the first step to toilet training. Moreover, with the passing of time, children often learn to be more responsible doing the diaper-changing themselves without the intervention of their parents.
There are disposable diapers and cloth diapers. Disposable diapers are easy to use; use it once and throw it away. No washing, no fuss! However, disposable diapers are made of material that can harm your babys sensitive skin. Also, with its synthetic texture, disposable diapers are not comfortable, and babies are prone to develop rashes or allergies. Diapers made from natural fibres are a welcome change from disposable diapers as they are soft and soothing to the skin.
Raising a child also means rising expenses! A baby will go through up to a thousand or more diapers before his first birthday. Disposable diapers cost more than cloth diapers, but in this case, being expensive does not necessarily mean its better. Cloth diapers are lower-priced and are reusable. So, one cloth nappy serves as well as many disposable ones.
To further cut expenses, using second hand cloth diapers is a good idea, and after your baby has outgrown them, it is recommended you donate them to other parents or reuse them for your next child, thereby reducing waste.
In a word, diaper changing helps children be conscious about their bodies. Parents should encourage their children to actively take part in diaper changing making it a fun-time to enjoy.
One should be cautious about diapers as they need to be spotlessly clean and dry. The diapering surface may be a little elevated, but you need to be careful not to leave the child alone on it. Talcum powders, as a rule, should be avoided. Unknown ingredients in them may cause undesirable irritation on the tender skin of a baby. Always wash hands and make sure you clean the baby's genital areas well when changing diapers.
Comfort for your baby comes first, and with the menace of harmful chemicals in disposable diapers, cloth diapers seem the only solution.
