Diets for Weight Loss—Save the Shopping Headache
Diets for Weight LossSave the Shopping Headache
One of the big problems in shopping among diets for weight loss is that there's a lot of technical jargon. Many promises are made for your participation, but it's all presented in a way that you may not understand. How can you make an informed decision if the language is over your head? Let's make it simple.
Don't Take a Weight Loss Plan with Pills
One easy way to avoid trouble with a weight loss plan is to know that it's not healthy if you have to take pills. Pills signify one of two things: Either they're suggesting that you take stimulants, or the diet itself is missing nutrients that you have to supplement. Either case is not a good way to go.
Stimulants by and large can be effective in the short term for weight loss. However, your body may develop a resistance to them, and you'll have to take more to maintain your metabolism. They're also bad for your heart and may make you behave erratically. They can also leech vital minerals from your system, opening the way for osteoporosis or other mineral deficient disorders.
Detox Diets aren't for Weight Loss
For the most part, there's nothing wrong with detox diets. They have their own benefits and are good for your health in their own ways. Just don't expect that they'll help you lose weight. You can have a squeaky-clean liver or kidneys and still be overweight.
Besides, a truly effective weight loss plan will have its own detox stage. Some of the vitamins and minerals that you need to lose weight also play a role in removing toxins from your system. Also, as you burn fat, toxins will be released in your system if they're fat soluble. This is only a small part of the importance of drinking lots of water.
Low Carb is a Good Choice
If you want to really kick your fat burning potential into high gear, a high protein low carb diet can't be beat. This is especially true if the protein is organic. You will also want to be picky about what protein you eat. It's not all the same.
Soy protein is a complete no-no if you're serious about weight loss. This is one point where most vegetarian and vegan diets shoot themselves in the foot in terms of weight loss. Sure, you'll have a nice Zen state of mindit's because your metabolism has slowed down due to all the estrogen it contains.
Milk protein is also dead out. If you absolutely MUST have dairy, make sure that it's unpasteurized and organic. If you know a farmer that sells milk directly from the cow, you're far better off than with the store bought. In fact, any meat you eat should also be organic, preferable grass fed. Stay away from corn and grain fed even if it is organic. Knowing what they put in commercial cows to make them large, fat and lactating won't just make you feel sick, it'll make you fat, too.
