Difference In Boilers And Their Advantages

Water boilers serve an important purpose within a household. They provide us with warmth by feeding hot air into radiators and through pipes. All this delivered with decent pressure makes them a useful tool to have. Especially so during the colder seasons. But not all machines are the same, so let's look at the difference in boilers.

Without a boiler, warmth requires a lot more work and detracts from the benefits it brings in the first place. However, when looking to install a boiler, or know if the boiler you already have is the best available or at least pertinent to your own home.

Conventional

Traditionally, conventional boilers involve a cast iron heat exchanger. It uses this to heat up the water as it passes and often becomes stored within a thermal tank, such as a copper tube of relative size. Due to the simplicity involved in the way this boiler works, it's quite reliable and more user-friendly. The trade-off is between high energy consumption, but low maintenance fees.

Combination

Similar to the conventional type, this heats up water in the same way. However, when it comes to using the water, instead of it being stored, it's fed straight to where it's needed. Taps, for example, don't get hot water on demand from a conventional system, but do from a combination system. Furthermore, both the home's heating system, taps and showers can be utilized through a single boiler. The downside is that water takes up to forty seconds to heat up and pressure is only maintained through limited tap usage.

System

The conventional and combination boilers had many components separate from the central unit. By installing of the require parts into a single unit, you get the system type. Installation is made easier and quicker as well as reducing the materials, costs and maintenance requirements. Additionally, all of the parts being installed into a single unit mean damage to the other parts is negated. It's easier to find the source of the damage when it's all within a single part.

Back

While the other boilers are fueled by electricity, back types use fossil fuels. Every type of back boiler requires a chimney or open flue to remove the hazardous gases that originate from burning the fuels. For fuels like coal, the heat is only provided when the coal is burning, whereas non-solid fossil fuels can provide heat constantly throughout the year.

Condensing

Combining the back boiler with a heat exchanger, the water that is cooler is heated up again. This maximizes heat efficiency and provides a much more cost-effective solution to home-heating. A disadvantage of this machine is that the complexity of the design can lead to more maintenance costs and repairs.
