It consumes less memory and protects confidential information. Users deploy this format to archive data, create interactive files or exchange huge amount of information. The Post Script is the basis of a PDF file format.

Definition of Post Script:

Post Script refers to a page description language. This language runs in an interpreter to generate an image. A Post Script refers to a protocol used to communicate between applications like Word document and pdf to word. A user can also deploy the Post Script to facilitate communication between the output devices like image setters or laser printers.

Difference between PDF and Post Script:

Both the applications are different from each other. Adobe developed these two applications. A PDF is a file format. A Post Script file is a programming language that runs in an interpreter for the creation of an image. A user can create a PDF from a source Post Script file. In other words, PDF is based on Post Script that uses the instruction set of Post Script. You can deploy the PDF to create documents as it describes the layout of a document. You can use a Post Script to write word processor or a chess program. PDF files are smaller as compared to a Post Script as the former has compression algorithms. It is convenient to modify the PDF files as compared to the Post Script files. The PDF application is more versatile as compared to Post Script files because you can insert hyperlinks and multimedia elements. You can create a PDF independent of any application or device. A Post Script is device specific application and can generate errors if sent to any other device. A PDF includes interpreted and tokenized results of the Post Script source code whereas this is not in the case of a Post Script. A Post Script embeds the instructions that the description of a page can affect the appearance of any following page. Therefore processing of all the pages in a Post Script takes place at the same time. However, a PDF files remain unaffected on changing any page.
