Different Types Of Pallet Racking

. Pallet racking is the most beneficial way of storing goods that will get you good return on investment.

Pallet racking has different types based on the material use and the others are based on its purpose and capacity. Many years ago, the first pallet was made of wood and up to this date it is still the most common pallet material. On the other hand, two percent of pallets produced today are made of plastic. Plastic pallets cost more than the wood pallet but are durable and easy to clean. These types of pallets are mostly made of HDPE and PVC.

Aside from the two, there are also Paper pallets that include those made of corrugated cardboard and molded wood pulp. These pallets are made to support lightweight stocks and are easy to recycle. Lastly, the most expensive one, Metal Pallet make up less than one percent of the pallet market. In contrast to Paper Pallet, these pallets are made for heavy goods. Most racking providers have a range of metal pallet that could carry different capacities from approximately 3700 kgs up to 14500 kgs.

Pallets are also categorized according to its capabilities, capacity and purpose. Some of the most famous types are the selective racking, drive-in racking, double-deep racking and narrow aisle racking.

Selective rack is the most common method of storing pallets which is designed to provide ready access to every pallet. It is absolutely adjustable and offers a wide range of options and components. It also maximizes the space use in any warehouse while retaining optimum product accessibility. The second type is also known as drive-in and drive-through racking that is consist of continuous blocks ad undivided by aisle.

On the other hand, double-deep racking stores two or four pallets deep in a double entry rack. This type of racking features various frames and beam sections and sizes for light to heavy duty storing needs. Lastly, the narrow aisle racking maximizes the use of floor area and roof height. The system is served by forklift machines with the mast or fork head rotating to left or right as required.
