Different Types of Watches

Watches are probably one of the most innovative inventions of man

. It helps us keep track of time and it also helps us to be punctual on our day to day activities such as going to work, meetings with clients and other schedules. Though these lovely timepieces have become a necessity for mankind, the needs of one person may differ from another, that is why there are various types of watches that cater to different people and their individual needs.

1. Quartz watches

This conventional type of watch uses an electronic circuit that is regulated by a quartz crystal, hence the name quartz watches. Experts say that quartz watches and clocks are more accurate than mechanical clocks.

2. Analog watches

Analog basically refers to the design of the watch display. An analog watch is basically a watch with two to three rotating hands pointing to numbers arranged in a circular direction to tell time.

3. Digital watch.

Digital watches display time as a series of digits. This type of watch has more "high end" technology than other types of watches. Most digital watches offer other handy features such as temperature reader, calendar, alarms and many more.

4. Mechanical watch

As it name suggests, a mechanical watch uses a mechanical gear or mechanism to measure time. This type of watch may not be as accurate as quartz watches but it definitely costs more than the latter.

Design wise, there are different types of watches that cater to different types of people. Of course there's the classic design with leather or metal straps, the complicated watch with jampacked features, the sporty watch, the ladies watch, and the jewellery watch. Most men love the complicated watch while women love the ladies watch. If you're undecided what watch to buy, you'll never go wrong with the classic watch. Jewellery watches, on the other hand, are the most expensive design type and is often reserved during special occasions.
