Different Types of Webinars
Based on the function that a webinar is supposed to serve
, different classifications are possible. A fundamental differentiation is based on whether a webinar is a free webinar or a paid for webinar. If what is being delivered is an awareness type of webinar, where the people attending are made acutely aware of an issue, but are not told how to solve it, then this has to be delivered as a free webinar. These events are typically designed such that the presenter can generate consultancy, book or DVD sales. On the other hand, webinars which teach a very specific subject and are delivered solely for teaching a skill or imparting some specific knowledge are chargeable, as people will pay to attain that skill or knowledge.
There are three models of online seminars or webinars that can be used for promoting a product or service:
1. Promotion of a product or service to potential buyers by presenting a free webinar: Viewers can be told what to do regarding an issue and then a little bit about the product or service can be presented, which will show them how the issue could be handled more easily and quickly, resulting in saving of time and money, something that they will be prepared to pay for.
2. Holding a free online event to promote a webinar class: This is essentially a teaser
webinar which should make the audience feel that they wish to know more about the subject. They would then be willing to pay for that specific knowledge.
3. Holding a free webinar as a rolling launch for a product: The webinar is presented to various groups of people and will serve as a continuous launch for the product or service, because multiple groups are being addressed.
There are various categories of webinar software and webinar providers. These service providers extend webinar support and recording webinars is also made possible.
Webinars can be classified on the following basis:
* To stay in touch with the customer base by telling the customer how he can get more out of the product or service.
* Thought leadership introduction of a new technology or platform that meets future needs.
* Feedback from customers
webinars are good tools for encouraging feedback from customers, which assist with strategy formulation.
* To strengthen alliances and recruit partners by bringing market intelligence to resellers.
* Seeking to educate the customer, rather than forcing a sale informing the customer, rather than making a hard sales pitch, so that the customer may be made aware of his needs.
