Different Uses For Fences

Fencing is used in a number of ways today, probably in many more ways than one would expect

. There are tons of different applications for fencing in many different fields and jobs, and the different materials out of which it can be made allow it to perform a number of versatile tasks.

Perhaps the most common use for fencing is to prevent people or animals from crossing a set boundary, although this alone can take a number of different forms. Here, we'll take a look at some of the more common applications for a variety of different fencing types, as well as the materials that fencing is usually made from.

Fences can be found virtually anywhere in the world, from urban city centers to rural areas to national and state parks. The primary areas into which fencing types are broken include agricultural, commercial, and private. Agricultural fences are typically used to mark where areas of land end, to contain livestock, and to mark boundaries within pieces of land (such as for different planting areas).

Commercial fencing is typically used for security, in order to protect structures from intruders, and for use in public spaces such as parks and schools. Private fencing is most often seen in residential areas, in order to separate houses and to increase the privacy of the residents living inside.

Fences can be made from a huge variety of materials, but each type of materials is better suited to performing certain jobs. The most common materials seen in private fencing, for example, are probably iron and wood. Iron is a popular choice because it is very strong, durable, and creates an elegant look.

It can be worked into many shapes in order to make it harder to bypass or to make it more intricate and visually appealing. Wood is also common in private fencing because it can be made into a solid barrier, reducing visibility and increasing privacy.

Commercial fencing tends to be either chain link or iron. Chain link is relatively cheap and will stop most casual bystanders from intruding, and iron is used in applications where a higher degree of security is required. Chain link can also be outfitted with extra security measures, like barbed wire.

Agricultural fences tend to be made from either vinyl or wood, because both are resistant to weathering, are relatively cheap, are easy to set up, and can be used safely around large animals.
