The spinning brooms or brushes fitted to street sweepers also use a vacuum to collect the debris into the container or the hopper. These kinds of sweepers are usually smaller than other highway sweepers. The smaller sweepers are generally used in industrial premises.

The hydraulic systems spraying air into the streets or the high pressure jets of water make them extremely useful on the road. Street sweepers nowadays are also used for cleaning debris and dirt from almost any surface, not just roads. The smaller sweepers are extensively used in warehouses and car parks, construction sites, municipal streets can be cleaned using the big street sweepers.
