Introduction to Difficult Probability Problems:


Probability is a method of expressing knowledge or attitude that an occurrence will happen. In mathematics the idea has been given a right sense in probability theory, that is used broadly in such areas of learn as mathematics, finance, statistics etc. Now we will solve the default examples of probability.

Example Problems - Difficult Probability Problems

The following difficult examples are used to understand the probability concepts.


Example 1:

Your English teacher is sketching the names to see who will give the first talking. There are 28 students in the class and 4 speeches will be given every day.

i) What is the probability that you will your talking first?

ii) What is the probability that you will give your talking on the first day?

Solution

Total number of students n(S)=28

i) Take P(A) is the probability for you will talking first

So P(A)='(1)/(28)'

ii) Take P(B) is the probability for you will give your talkingon the first day.

So P(B)='(4)/(28)'

='(1)/(7)' .

Example 2:

The scores are 10, 12, 19, 20, 23, 37. What is the probability for the following outcomes?

i) Select the numbers are above 12.

ii) Select the numbers are 10 to 20.

Solution:

i) Take P(A) is the probability for the numbers are above 12.

Given numbers are 10, 12, 19, 20, 23, 37.

Total numbers n(S) = 6

Here the following numbers are above 12 n(A) = {19, 20, 23, 37} = 4

So P(A) = '(n(A))/(n(S))'

= '(4)/(6)'

='(2)/(3)' .

ii) Take P(B) is the probability for the numbers are 10 to 20.

12 and 19 are available between the 10 to 20. So n(B) = 2

Total outcomes n(S) = 6

So P(B) = '(n(B))/(n(S))'

= '(2)/(6)'

= '(1)/(3)' .

Example 3:

Select the number at random from 1 to 9. What is the probability for the following outcomes?

i)What is the probability that the number is odd

ii)What is the probability that the number is even.

Solution:

The outcomes of the above question is 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 , 7, 8 and 9.

i)Take P(A) is the probability of the odd number occur.

The odd numbers are 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 .So n(A) = 5

Total outcomes n(S) = 9

So P(A) = '(n(A))/(n(S))'

= '(5)/(9)'

ii)Take P(B) is the probability of the even number occur.

The even numbers of the above experiment is 2, 4, 6, 8. So n(B) = 4

Total outcomes n(S) = 9

So P(B) ='(n(B))/(n(S))'

='(4)/(9)' .

Example 4:

What is the probability for select the letter T from the word TELEVISION?

Solution:

Given word is TELEVISION.

Total letters n(S) = 10

Number of T letter n(A) = 1

So the probability = '(1)/(10)' .

Answer :

Probability='(1)/(5)' .

2.What is the probability for select the odd numbers from 5 to 9?


Answer:

Probability='(3)/(5)' .
